Yes, In Your Backyard Backyard Sewer Main Replacements Benefit from Approach that Combines Trenchless Technologies and Focused Homeowner Outreach
Abstract
The City of Yuba City is replacing or rehabilitating approximately 4 miles of 6-inch and 8-inch diameter sanitary sewer mains. Many of the sewer mains are nearly 100 years old and are located in residential backyards. This project includes relocating approximately 265 private laterals and rerouting them to new sewer mains in the streets.The public outreach approach for this project included personal meetings with each resident to describe the project, obtain and document backyard design constraints and ultimately reduce construction change orders. It is anticipated that much of the lateral rerouting will by horizontal direction drilling to reduce disruption and impact to properties and residents
