Promoting Water Conservation Through Education, Incentives, and Rates
Abstract
Since 2008, the Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources has concentrated on ways to help our citizens conserve water and we are also good stewards of this resource. This effort came in the shadow of a level four drought where our water source, Lake Lanier, was at 25 year record lows. Water bans were somewhat successful in reducing water use, but it was important for the County to take additional measures. This paper will address some of the programs we have implemented since then to help conserve this precious resource.
