How to Achieve Oscar-Winning Performance from Your Utility Workforce
Abstract
The key to delivering Oscar-winning performances at your utility is having a workforce which understands the “big picture”: where we are going, how we are going to get there and why we do what we do to make it happen. When communicating this to your team, it is important to remember that complex management theories seldom communicate well to line workers or even middle management. At Daphne Utilities, we know that a lesson forgotten is worthless to everyone, but a lesson remembered often is priceless. Instead of long, boring lectures, we often associate our points with common, every-day events, like popular movie themes or catch phrases that our people already know. By using this technique, our Team is constantly reminded of one of the core principles of our Mission Statement which is to “set the standard of excellence against which others are measured”. See if this useful technique can work for your utility!
