Asset Management – You’re Already Doing It A Tulsa, Oklahoma, Case Study
Abstract
Asset management is like a glacier; it’s huge, it’s slow, and it’s unstoppable. Most utility managers see it coming but don’t know where to start and worry about how to implement it on a shoestring budget. They understand that it will reduce collection system failure risk, and lower long-term operating costs; but they also know that they will have to demonstrate its value to skeptical boards and rate payers before they can receive the funding to implement it. This presentation will demonstrate that asset management is a natural extension of logical principles that utility managers are already employing, show them the first steps that a large utility’s took to implement asset management principles, and how these steps reduced the risk of failure in their collection systems.
