A NOVEL APPROACH TO SHARE ON-LINE EMISSION CONTROL DATA
Abstract
Utilities are often requested to share or otherwise report operational data with licensing, permitting, and public health agencies, or the public. To meet this desire the Metropolitan Sewer District created a custom software application that not only meets this need, but an additional and often-overlooked need of supplying near-real time data for process control and review.Highlights of this project include an explanation and presentation of how this data is shared with two public agencies utilizing connections through a wide-area network. Provided by the system are current data display, historical data, and trending display of current and historical data. The system also allows users to enter and view comments regarding either data validity or explanations of circumstances related to the data. The desired site (two sites are currently available to the viewer) is chosen by the viewer, who also selects the periods for view and display. This paper also details the field equipment selected and utilized, the database structures, and most importantly, the human interface to this data
