Abstract
The Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) has recently adopted a Strategic Business Plan to address all aspects of its business and operations on a systematic and continuously evaluated basis. One of the key Objectives states “Invest in new technology that can improve productivity and provide a beneficial return on investment”. The key strategy identified in the plan to achieve this goal states: “Optimize staff and resource usage by using remote monitoring and control to achieve benchmarked standards.” Successful implementation of this strategy requires not only an expansion of existing telemetry systems, but also identification of ways to apply this technology in new and innovative ways.
