Abstract
Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection, for many years an accepted technology in the treatment of wastewater, is gaining widespread recognition as a primary barrier in disinfection treatment for municipal potable water. Focusing on the North American market, this article reviews basic UV technology, selection and application guidelines, and the benefits for the use of UV systems in potable water treatment plants.
