A SUMMARY OF THE 1996, 1998, AND 2000 SECTION 303(D) LISTS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR TMDL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
This paper presents an explanation and in-depth analysis of the data contained in EPA's TMDL Tracking System. The TMDL Tracking System is a database that contains information on section 303(d) lists of impaired waters and TMDLs that have been developed for those waters. The purpose of the database is to allow EPA, the states/territories, and the public to obtain a more complete picture of how many waters have been listed, the causes of impairment, and the progress that is being made toward TMDL development. Information is provided on how data have been input to the database, the current number of listed waters and associated impairments, and the implications for TMDL development.
