EVALUATION AND REHABILITATION OF MAJOR UNLINED RCP SANITARY SEWER LINES IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
Abstract
The Unlined Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) Sanitary Sewer Lines Evaluation and Rehabilitation Project was established by the City of Las Vegas, Nevada to address concerns with their deteriorating infrastructure. The project objectives were to provide for evaluation, repair, rehabilitation and/or replacement of approximately 85,200 lineal feet of deteriorated RCP ranging in size from 18 to 57 inches diameter including 400 manholes. The project was prompted by the collapse of a 54-inch sewer line in July of 1999. Investigation of this pipe revealed severe deterioration in the vicinity of the break and an emergency repair was required. Subsequent to this emergency repair, two pipeline condition assessment projects were completed that revealed other severely deteriorated sewer lines.
