MATHEMATICAL METHODS FOR BIOTREATMENT OF UNSATURATED SOILS AND SLUDGES
Abstract
This paper presents a methodology, using well-accepted mathematical methods, for calculating the volume of medium potentially requiring treatment at contaminated sites and the degree of treatment (contaminant reduction) required to meet specified end points. Several examples will be presented to illustrate the magnitude of cost savings that can be achieved, without any reduction in the degree of protection to human health and the environment provided by the treatment technology.
