IN-STREAM DISSOLVED OXYGEN AUGMENTATION USING A SUPER SATURATED SLIP STREAM
Abstract
The City of Dearborn Michigan's Instream Dissolved Oxygen Augmentation Project has successfully demonstrated that a slipstream of river water could be super saturated with dissolved oxygen at concentrations exceeding 800 mg/l without introducing bubbles into the natural river system. This allows near 100% oxygen transfer in shallow, moving water without releases to the atmosphere for over 3500 feet (where the most distant measurements were made). This practice and this technology has application in any industry where episodic dissolved oxygen deficiencies occur and these “worst case” scenarios become the constraint driving the sizing of the wastewater treatment facility
