Abstract
The City of Raleigh Public Utilities Department (CORPUD) has experienced a number of failures of aerial sewer mains, primarily due to severe weather events. As a result, CORPUD commissioned the design of a substantially reinforced aerial sewer main detail. This paper will review the events that led up to this design decision, the details of the design and the success of the change.
