WHAT EVERY SYSTEM OWNER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CIPP SEWER REHABILITATION
Abstract
Over the past decade, the cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) industry has undergone tremendous changes and as a result, it has become difficult for sewer system owners to be certain of quality and value for their expended dollar. While prices for cured-in-place pipe have dropped dramatically, the plain and simple truth is that there are many companies providing CIPP that do not possess the knowledge or capacity, for a myriad of reasons, to produce a first-rate end product. As profit margins have narrowed, many in the industry decided to cut the cost of raw materials by cheapening resins, catalysts and liner tube. They have also looked for ways to cut installation time thereby reducing their labor costs. In theory this sounds fine. In the field, it has proven disastrous.Today, it is essential that the system owner know three things:Who is manufacturing and installing my CIPP?What are the raw material components that make up the CIPP?How is my CIPP being installed?Sewer system owners and Engineers must have in their minds (and in their specifications) what it will take to answer these critical questions satisfactorily thus ensuring a high-quality trenchless project.
