Abstract
The water industry is currently facing its biggest challenge to date, yet it has nothing to do with water: An existing work force is getting older every year due to a declining incoming work force. So, how does an employer not only recruit, but retain qualified Young Professionals (YPs)? A pilot-survey was conducted in North Carolina and Alabama to ask YPs about their experiences in being recruited in addition to how their employer has retained them. The survey was administered on a small-scale in an effort to develop a "lessons learned" in the hope of expanding to a larger, national audience in the near future.
