Consultant Client Corroboration in Restoring Historic Wastewater Treatment in Nassau, Bahamas

The Malcolm Park Wastewater Treatment Facility is a primary treatment plant that is located on the northeast end of New Providence, Bahamas. The original facility was built in the 1930's and is currently in need of critical improvements and upgrades as much of its infrastructure and process equipment are not functioning as intended. Based on preliminary evaluations, discussions, and site reviews between the Bahamas Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) staff and Chester Engineers, a progressive, collaborative effort has been initiated to address the current issues with the facility. An improvements program has been developed for Chester Engineers to work with WSC to improve the facility's integrity, level of safety, and performance as well as to gain a better understanding of the influent flow characteristics the facility receives. Through a comprehensive analysis, several design-build projects have been identified to facilitate the current issues and specific projects have been recommended as documented via technical memoranda by Chester Engineers for WSC consideration. WSC and Chester have already completed several tasks and are continuing with improvement projects based on the priority, time, and budget.
