Final Report to U.S. EPA by an Advisory Committee about Detection and Quantitation of Chemical Pollutants in Water
Abstract
A federal advisory committee representing a broad group of Clean Water Act (CWA) stakeholders finished 30 months of deliberations and sent their recommendations to EPA in December 2007. The scope of the committee's charge from EPA was to make recommendations applicable to measurement of chemical pollutants in CWA programs. The committee recommended a laboratory procedure with which EPA could calculate chemical pollutant limits that are used in NPDES permits. The Committee also recommended ways regulators could interpret monitoring results for compliance with pollutant discharge limits. We will describe how EPA's Office of Water is progressing with acting on these CWA recommendations. “
