Update on Water Sector Strategy for Decontamination
Abstract
The Critical Infrastructure Partnership Advisory Council (CIPAC) Decontamination Working Group, convened by the Water Sector Coordinating Council (WSCC) and the Government Coordinating Council (GCC), was established to develop a strategy and plan to support water sector decontamination priorities. The CIPAC Working Group's final report identifies priority decontamination issues for the Water Sector when responding to accidental or intentional contamination incidents, or natural disasters; recommendations to address these issues; and a proposed strategic plan to address decontamination priorities. The report consists of 35 recommendations to address the key decontamination issues facing the Water Sector during the decontamination of drinking water and wastewater systems. EPA and Water Sector stakeholders may use the report as a guide to focus efforts that address Water Sector decontamination needs during the recovery phase of a contamination incident.
