Innovation and Partnership in West Bengali Schools
Abstract
In the search for sustainable solutions to the global crisis in safe drinking water and sanitation, schools have emerged as a potential leverage point for the transformation of communities lacking these basic services. Partnership and innovation have been central to fostering functional and sustainable school water and sanitation systems in India. In an environment where government resources often fail to reach communities in need, and where government investments that do exist often fall short of success, Water For People – India advocates for schools by promoting its proven innovations among government entities that become enthusiastic partners to the process. The presentation will highlight several innovations, including a pilot program in menstrual hygiene.
