Abstract
As part of the effort to develop the Kansas City, Missouri Long Term Control Plan (LTCP) for the management of wet weather overflows, basin-wide control alternatives were developed for the Middle Blue River (MBR) Combined Sewer System (CSS) basin. Control alternatives were developed by identifying improvements such as storage facilities and relief sewers to eliminate wet-weather overflows; and identifying and evaluating wet-weather volume and peak flow reductions achievable through inflow and infiltration (I/)I reduction and the application of “green” solutions for all sub-basins in the MBR basin.The final recommended basin-specific plan represents multiple modifications and refinements to an initial preferred plan based on integration with other basins in Kansas City, and the incorporation of an expanded role for green solutions.
