Conservation and the Industrial Water Footprint

Abstract

The recently coined term of “Water Footprint” is added to the growing plethora of environmental stewardship terms including “Ecological Footprint” and “Carbon Footprint.” Water Footprint definitions are reviewed followed by an introduction to use of the water footprint concept in industrial water conservation efforts. Water and carbon footprint tradeoffs are noted.
