Disinfecting MBR Effluent. What's the Common Practice?

Abstract

Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs) are an emerging wastewater treatment technology offering many advantages including excellent effluent quality, stable operational performance, a small footprint, reduction of excess sludge production, and reuse of effluent. Common disinfectants for MBR effluent include UV radiation and chlorine. Investigation was conducted through a survey of various wastewater treatment plants to determine common disinfection practices for MBR effluent. The results are presented herein.
