Marina Barrage: The Community Engagement Approach as a Paradigm for Urban Solutions in Cities of the Future
Abstract
PUB Singapore has recently commissioned the Marina Barrage Facility – a multi-purpose facility that creates a large reservoir in the heart of the city, and substantially changes the interface of the city with the sea. This project was designed to be open and welcoming to the public, and its mufti-purpose facilities provide both educational and recreational benefits. This presentation summarizes how PUB built many community focused activities into a large civil engineering facility – one that would normally not be accessible to the community.
