Co-Location of Brown Grease to Biodiesel Production Facility at the Oceanside Wastewater Treatment Plant in San Francisco, CA

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, using a grant from the California Energy Commission, is building a demonstration plant to recover brown grease from food service establishment grease trap waste and convert it to biodiesel. The demonstration plant will be co-located at San Francisco's Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant (OSP), where process heat from OSP can be used in grease recovery and residual wastes from the pilot project can be digested anaerobically for enhanced methane production.The purpose of this Draft Performance Certification Test Plan is to outline the research program testing and monitoring requirements needed to document system and program performance from technology validation through development of a business case and cost-benefit analysis.
