Process Design for Simultaneously Removing Arsenic and Manganese
Abstract
Process design improvements, focused on balancing the different water chemistry requirements of arsenic and manganese removal, were implemented at a mine wastewater treatment facility after detailed bench scale testing. In addition to testing different conditions, reagents, and dosages for arsenic and manganese removal, chemical addition points within the treatment process were also adjusted for optimal arsenic and manganese removal. The challenges for simultaneous arsenic and manganese removal are presented, along with analyses of both full-scale wastewater treatment facility data and bench scale testing results.
