Stormwater BMP Performance in meeting Chesapeake Bay TMDL Goals in Prince George's County, MD
Abstract
With the tightening budgets, local municipalities face a tremendous challenge in maintaining the current stormwater infrastructure. With the new regulatory drivers, municipalities have been relying on alternate delivery methods to successfully deliver safe, reliable and sustainable stormwater infrastructure. The Clean Water Partnership (CWP) program, a Community-Based Partnership between Prince George's County, MD (County) and Corvias (Manager) was developed as an approach to cost effectively implement and maintain stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP) infrastructure while enhancing local business and resident participation and environmental literacy through the program. This paper presents a snapshot of the BMP performance in this program in the first phase (Phase 1) of implementation. In addition, this presentation delves into Phase 2 (next three years) plan, implementation strategy, lessons learned from Phase 1.
