In an era of rapid technological advancement, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) technologies has reshaped various industries, and the drinking water utility management sector is no exception. This session will discuss groundbreaking approaches to digital transformation in the management of drinking water utilities through the utilization of AI models. Water utilities face multifaceted challenges, including water quality monitoring, infrastructure maintenance, customer service, and regulatory compliance. Traditional methods of managing these tasks often prove to be time-consuming and resource-intensive. However, the advent of AI-powered solutions, ChatGPT among them, offers new avenues for streamlining processes, improving decision-making, and enhancing customer interactions within the drinking water utility sector. This presentation will delve into the following key aspects of digital transformation using AI in the context of drinking water utility management, while also sharing insights gained from utility leaders' experiences, comments, and lessons-learned: 1. Real-time Monitoring and Analysis: AI can be employed to monitor data from various sensors and sources in real-time. This enables immediate detection of anomalies in water quality, leakages, or other critical issues, allowing for proactive responses to safeguard water quality and infrastructure. 2. Predictive Maintenance: By analyzing historical data and sensor readings, AI can predict equipment failures and maintenance needs, enabling utilities to schedule maintenance activities efficiently, minimize downtime, and extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure. 3. Customer Engagement: AI can provide responsive and personalized customer support around the clock.
