Accelerating Change – A Case Study in Uniting People and Best Practices for Results
Abstract
Many utilities face a need for change – to do better – as never before. Change is easy to ask for but harder to deliver. Even with the lessons learned and successful formulas developed over the last 15 years, utility leaders still have simple questions that are no easier to answer: How can a utility be more agile? How do we energize our people, and focus that energy? How do we develop leaders and a culture of leadership? How do we avoid yet another strategic initiative doomed to fall short of expectations? This paper illustrates the need for change at a large US wastewater utility, the best practice solutions identified for implementation, and the methodology used to implement those solutions and achieve results using a people-focused approach.
