Abstract
The Regional Municipality of Durham is located east of the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is situated along the north shore of Lake Ontario, directly across the lake from New York State. The Region of Durham serves a population of 677,000 people. It has several wastewater facilities. The largest plant being the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant in Pickering. Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant serves the population of both Durham Region and York Region residents (750,000 total), averaging a daily flow of 296,000 m3 per day.
