Abstract
The City of Phoenix Water Services Department (Department) serves the drinking water and wastewater treatment needs of 1.4 million customers. The rapid growth of the Phoenix metropolitan area has resulted in an almost exponential growth in the types and numbers of business and information transactions the Department manages to successfully accomplish its mission. The Department's 500 square-mile service area, assets and responsibilities are extensive and complex, requiring an information technology (IT) infrastructure and IT platforms that facilitate effective communication.
