INFLUENT PUMP STATION ODOR CONTROL AT SINGAPORE's CHANGI WASTEWATER RECLAMATION PLANT
Abstract
The influent pump station at Singapore's new Changi Wastewater Reclamation Plant is the first process operation to come on line. The odor control system is housed in one of the 37 m diameter influent pump shafts, 14 meters below ground level. Odor control is provided by two 10,000 cfm multistage chemical scrubber systems followed by vertical bed, V-bank carbon adsorbers. Additional ventilation and odor control is provided intermittently as needed by a 65,000 cfm multi-stage odor control scrubber and V-bank carbon adsorber. Installation, commissioning and performance testing have been completed, demonstrating better than 99.99% H2S removal at concentrations up to 500 ppm.An advanced on-line H2S monitoring system provides continuous measurement of the H2S concentration at the inlet, and at the outlet of each chemical scrubber and each carbon adsorbrer. The H2S analyzer has resolution down to 0.002 ppm, and utilizes dilution probes for sampling at higher concentrations.
