Abstract
An expansion of the Ypsilanti (MI) Community Utilities Authority YCUA Wastewater Treatment Plant was completed in 2006. Part of that expansion was a replacement of the old multiple-hearth biosolids incinerator with a new fluidized-bed incinerator system with state-of-the-art, best-available technologies for ensuring cleaner air in the community. Obtaining the Permit to Install, and completing acceptance testing presented a number of challenges. This paper describes how these challenges were met successfully to provide YUCA with the cleanest municipal biosolids incinerator system in the U.S.
