A New Simple and Reliable Method for an Economical and Work Efficient Determination of Total Organic Carbon (TOC) of Aqueous Samples
Abstract
In recent years, TOC has steadily gained in importance in wastewater analysis. In relationship to COD in particular, it provides specific information about the type and origin of organic loads in wastewater. Advances have also been made in TOC analysis - no longer is a major investment required, either financially or in terms of equipment. The new development of a so called “vial test system” enables the TOC content of water and wastewater to be measured reliably and cost effectively. This new system consists of a combined purging, oxidizing and detection disposal glass-vial (patented and patent pending). The determination of TOC can be done with standard colorimeters or photometers. This system is called the TNTplus TOC vial test. The test delivers reliable, equivalent TOC results using e.g. HACH spectrophotometers.
