Research on Storm-water Pumping Station Network Equipment
Abstract
In Japan, concentrated rainfall exceeding the rainwater drainage capacity of sewerage systems has caused frequent damage, demanding a new method of preventing such damage. This study inventories design concepts and summarizes design methods for mechanical and electrical equipment of storm-water pumping stations in a storm-water pumping station network formed by linking the drainage areas of a number of adjacent pumping station drainage districts. It also describes a specific system configuration and a design method for an extensive RTC (Real-Time operating Control) system to monitor and control storm-water pumping stations over a wide area following the completion of a network. It also includes a case study performed to confirm the overtopping reduction effects of the application of these technologies.
