The Future of New Water in California: City of San Diego North City Pure Water
Abstract
The City of San Diego’s North City Pure Water Facility (NCPWF) will treat recycled water from the nearby North City Water Reclamation Plant (NCWRP) in order to provide a safe and reliable local water supply through surface water augmentation. The first of its kind in California, the NCPWF multi-treatment barrier treatment system includes ozonation, biological active carbon, membrane filtration, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet advanced oxidation. This paper will detail the final design optimizations to improve process performance, reliability, and safety.
