Upgraded ozone system reduces costs, meets discharge standards

The Como region in Italy, known as the heart of the Italian textile industry, is home to the Lariana Depur water resource recovery facility. The plant, located in Fino Mornasco, treats wastewater from multiple textile manufacturers in a region rich in textile history. Como has long been home to fabric production — due in part to the proximity of rivers for sourcing water and hydraulic energy. To meet discharge regulations cost-effectively, the plant was upgraded in 2018 with an ozone system supplied by the Italian manufacturer De Nora, based in Milan, which optimized the plant for lower specific energy consumption and less-costly spare parts, a result of innovative technologies including De Nora’s proprietary dielectric design.
